NCT127 'STICKER' Is Out! — Will It Stick At The Top List?

If you are following the K-Pop trend, NCT127's new album 'Sticker' probably have passed your ear at some point. The South Korean boy group consisting of Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark, and Haechan released their most awaited album of all time a few hours ago, precisely at 1PM (KST) / 12AM(EST) / 9PM (PST). It is their first comeback after nearly two years since their last album, 'NEO ZONE'.

I am going to be 100% honest; the title track 'Sticker' needed to be listened a couple of times before you can actually enjoy it. But once you are used to it, I am telling you, there is no going back! It is said that 'noise' music is pretty much the whole deal of NCT 127 branding.

The music video — needs not much validation — is a masterpiece. From colorful lights around the rodeo, shining lasso (IKR?!), to the gunshot special effects, all complement the funky spacecowboys concept perfectly. Also, I dare to say the camerawork is among the best of all SM Entertainment music videos, even all K-Pop industry! No wonder the big success NCT 127 had reached with their comeback this time.

Breaking Records Here and There

'STICKER', NCT 127's 3rd album was first announced on August 24 and recorded 1.32 million stock pre-orders on the first day itself. Yesterday, it was announced that they had sold over 2.12 million copies, making it an album with most pre-order sales from SM Entertainment of all time!

According to @nct_charts on Twitter, 'Sticker' music video surpassed 1 million views on YouTube after only 21 minutes, making it the fastest NCT music video to reach 1M views.

It is safe to say that 'Sticker' is paving NCT 127's way up to the K-Pop hall of fame.

Future Projects

Fans of NCT, who are called NCTzens (or Sijeunis), have grown tremendously over the past year. NCT as a whole came together as NCT 2020 last October, followed by WayV comeback 'Kick Back', NCT Dream's 1st full length album 'Hot Sauce', and its repackaged album 'Hello Future'; all of them breaking records and successfully making NCT widely known as one of the most popular boy groups in the industry.

For NCT 127, it is their first comeback since last May with 2nd repackaged album 'Punch'. Of course, their fans are thrilled and were more than ready to raise the roof. The boys did the first live performance of 'Sticker' on The Late Late Show with James Corden, only 37 minutes after the album release. Congratulations to James Corden, I guess, for nailing exclusive first deal with NCT 127, hottest star of K-Pop nowadays.

It has also made known that the boys will promote their title track along with 'Lemonade' from their B-side tracks on this weeks's music shows in Korea.

Fans have speculated from NCT's recent activities that they are going to come together once again before 2021 ends. Some say it is another project like NCT2020, but way better. Others say it is a more laid back project of winter album.

Whatever it is going to be, I say NCT with all its sub-units have a promising track ahead of them.

So, Is It A Certified Banger?

While giving the whole album a listen, I found myself surprised by exciting music elements. They are all far from the mainstream music we lately listen from rappers trying to pursue hip-hop and R&B genre with their own weird approach. The album 'Sticker' is unique, but not weirdly unique, it is an exciting and genuinely innovative kind of unique. I suggest you give it a listen, like, right now!

My own personal favorites are 'Far', 'The Rainy Night', 'Promise You', 'Lemonade', and of course, the title track 'Sticker'. Notice how almost half of the 11 tracks are my favorites? That sums up how hard it is to pick one or two because of how much of a banger this album is!
